Routine Postnatal checks for you and baby available following discharge from hospital until 6 weeks and 6/7 days by a Registered endorsed midwife which include:
Postnatal recovery.
- Obtaining a full obstetric history, which includes physical checkups to support your recovery and address any questions or concerns.
- De-briefing and emotional support, by exploring experiences to provide more clarity and enable processing.
Newborn Care monitoring wellbeing.
- Monitoring your baby’s wellbeing, feeding and health.
- Establishment of feeding/ addressing any concerns.
- Newborn care, including bathing and settling, baby cues, safe sleeping practices and helping you feel confident caring for your newborn.
- Monitoring jaundice.
Access to your midwife.
- Options to access your midwife between booked appointments for any questions, guidance, or reassurance via phone or telehealth.
Prompt referral to specialist health professional services if required with consent, including Obstetricians, and Paediatricians.
Breastfeeding and feeding support.
Quite often we are led to believe that breastfeeding a newborn baby is a natural and easy thing to do. However, although it does become a lot easier with time, feeding is a learnt art in the first few days and weeks. Whichever way you choose to feed your baby, we are here to support you in your choices and provide the help you need.
