Continuity of care – Postnatal – Breastfeeding and supporting choice of feeding

Catherine

Catherine is a Registered Midwife with over 18 years’ experience, primarily in the community setting. Originally from the UK, she was employed as a community midwife with a love for continuity of care and was fortunate to have been able to see women for up to six weeks if needed. She emigrated to beautiful WA in 2011, where she has worked in the public health system providing postnatal care in the home once women have been discharged from the hospital for the first couple of weeks.

Her love for continuity of care and working in the community setting is where she feels she can really make a difference by providing compassionate, holistic care and reassurance in the first few weeks. She understands that this is a tumultuous time which is equally beautiful and incredible but can be so overwhelming and tiring in equal measures!

She has extensive experience providing breastfeeding support in the first few weeks and very much loves this area of her work. She is currently studying towards the International Board of Lactation Consultants exam later this year. However, she also thrives in supporting women in whichever way they choose to feed their baby, as every one’s journey and experiences are different.

She passionately believes that the availability of quality postnatal care beyond the first week should be available to support women and their families. This is the reason why she founded Baby Hive. Her vision for Baby Hive is to create a ‘HIVE” of accessible support, offering not just midwifery care, but also linking women to high quality services that promote recovery, confidence and wellbeing.

My goal is with the right guidance, every mother should feel empowered, confident and free from unnecessary guilt, no matter how their journey unfolds.

Through timely, holistic and personalised care, Baby Hive is here to ensure that you navigate the first 6 weeks with support and move forward feeling strong, confident, and empowered as you embrace your new life as a family.
